Amina Mokrane

Amina has practiced Aṣṭāṅga Vinyāsa Yoga for more than 15 years and teaches with a deep respect for the traditional method alongside a modern, anatomy-informed approach. She completed her teacher training at Yoga Ashtanga Marseille Aix and continued her studies with Gregor Maehle, Monica Gauci, Petri Räisänen, and David Garrigues.

Her teaching emphasizes safety, clarity, and empowerment, offering students a supportive space to explore their practice at their own pace. Alongside yoga, Amina is trained in massage therapy and currently works as a residential yoga teacher and massage therapist in Greece.

Nina Tomas

Nina has been practicing Aṣṭāṅga Vinyāsa Yoga for 12 years. She has been studying with several well-known Aṣṭāṅga Yoga teachers, but her teaching method has mostly been inspired by Petri Räisänen whose therapeutical and healing approach highly resonates with her experience of the Aṣṭāṅga sequences' benefits.

Nina has been assisting Petri in many of his retreats and is including his knowledge on traditional Finnish energy healing, that he has been passing on, in her hands-on-adjustments. Nina's passion for precision unfolds on a different level in her Vedic chanting practice. She is studying under the guidance of Shantala Sriramaiah, in the south Indian lineage of the Challakere Brothers.

Hips in Balance: Strength & Flexibility

Hip joints connect our lower body (legs) to our torso through the pelvis. It is held by a strong ligaments and muscular structure that makes it very stable while allowing movements in different axes: flexion, extensions, rotations, abductions and adductions …

In yoga, the region of the pelvis and hips is the seat of two vital energetic centers (Cakra) called Muladhara (Root) and Svadhisthana (the Sacral or dwelling of the self) Cakra. The root Cakra reflects our connection to earth, our foundations and it supports our stability. While the sacral Cakra reflect our creative being and our potential. It supports personal expansion.

Hips mobility and stability play a key role in our daily life and in our Yoga Asana (Postures) practice as well. Unfortunately, our modern lifestyles (sitting for too long), pathologies or even natural aging can reduce the hip range of motion and sometimes even impede the normal functioning of the joint. Practicing extreme forms of asana can also lead to a destabilization of the joint.

During this workshop, we will use yoga asana to restore and/or enhance hip joint mobility. We will learn to practice in a safe way that strengthens and stretches the muscles while respecting individual range of motion and preserving joint stability. These exercises and techniques can be used/included afterwards in your daily yoga practice or for your personal body work routine.

Awakening Spinal Intelligence Through Backbending

The spine is our inner pillar—the central support of the body and a vital pathway of awareness. In yoga, its significance extends beyond the physical form into the subtle and energetic realms. The sushumna nadi aligns with the axis of the spine and is the central energy channel into which the yogi seeks to consciously draw prana (life force), allowing it to flow freely, inviting balance and clarity throughout the system.

Whether one identifies as a yogi or not, understanding the natural curves of the spine, how it moves and articulates, and how to care for it is essential. Cultivating mindful posture in daily life, as well as in movement, workouts, and asana practice, supports both physical ease and energetic harmony.

In this workshop, we will learn about the anatomy of the spine and move into backbending postures from the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Primary and Intermediate Series. We will explore a range of variations, progressing from accessible foundations to more advanced expressions, making the practice inclusive for all levels and bodies. With mindful attention, we will backbend safely and consciously, building strength and stability while inviting a healthy, spacious opening through different regions of the spine.
